tranny slow to shift
In the morning on my way to work... and ive noticed this when the truck hasnt been driven, that when i drive and get to highway speeds the tranny doesnt want to shift into OD i'll be going 60mph at 2700rpm till the tranny warms up and shifts. But when the truck is warm it shifts fine... Im thinkin bout changin the fluid to royal purple hopin that will work. Any thoughts?

Ya know I forgot to mention the trans will not shift until it hits 55 degree fluid temp.
For the shift kit there are a few makers. Transgo is the one I have. part number sk55 IIRC.
Bulkpart.com has them.
You will also need upper and lower separtor plate gaskets, low/reverse servo gasket as well as a filter and pan gasket. Plus 8 or so quarts of Merc V.
Your looking at just north of 100 bucks in parts.
You will need a dry warm clean work space. A inch pound torque wrench is a must.
I did not drill my vb as the per trans go kit instructions. It just means if my EPC dies I'm stuck.
Look over at explorer forums 5r55e VB diary for info.
