I have a 94 ranger 4.0 automatic, i am having tranny trouble and am thinking about switching it to a 5 speed. I have a couple of questions, can it be done? what about the push button 4wd. can it be switched out easily.

There's a member here named Lifted97Ranger I believe that his correct name. He's currently in process of converting his '97 auto to a manual trans. He's got a big thread about it.

 

it can easily be done......just make sure you have ALL the parts before you start or you will get stuck......

The transfer case will unbolt from the old tranny and bolt up to the new one and work fine.....there is nothing to change there.....

Do a search in the "project log" and "how-to" sections for my threads on the swap......I will have the "how-to" done sometime this week......there is a complete parts list in both threads for the swap
