Tranny went... 'boom'

On my way to work this morning, I didn't make it a mile out of my neighborhood and the tranny went on me. :(

The road that you pull onto out of my n-hood is a major highway (hwy 17 to be exact). When you pull out you have to floor it basically to not get plowed. I'll normally let the truck shift between 4-5k when the traffic is heavy, but less than that of course if it's light.

Well, I pulled out and did the usual with heavy traffic and when it went to shift to third... The truck down shifted back to first and it wouldn't drive in any gear. You could put it in D, and floor it, but it would slowly roll.

So here comes a new 4WD tranny, t-case and all the whole 9 yards for the 4WD swap. :) :(

I haven't been off-road in forever, so I doubt it was water.

Actually, if anyone really wants to know why it went, I'll give you a little secret...

Do not EVER flush your tanny with any kind of Mighty Auto Parts Fluid or any of their services.

Oh yea, and it's only $500 for a new 4WD one with less than half the miles that mine has. $2,500 is WAY too much. You're getting blowed.

so what you can directly relate it going out to the quality of a flush a place did? You bet your *** i'd be knockin on someones door, or head for that matter!! Also, when you put in the new 4wd one, get a huge trans cooler and run it through there and bypass the 'cooler' that uses the radiator... good luck bro
