Hey all,

Just had my tranny replaced ~3,000 miles ago (bad vacation up in Wisconsin). Had a used tranny put in, truck is a 97 / 5 spd manual. Lately, I've been having problems putting the truck in reverse, but only sometimes. The lever just *won't* go in, like it's being blocked. I tried "re-aligning" the dogteeth by first putting it in a random gear (1-5), then tried going back into reverse... no difference. Ended up holding it back in reverse and slowly letting up on the clutch until it started grinding, then caught. Needless to say, I don't want to do that too often.

So, without driving 5 hours back to the repair shop that dropped this thing in, anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong with it? It only happens with reverse... everything else works ok...
