Trans swap 02 to a 96

So im working on the v8 swap and someone wants my tranny but we wanna make sure everything is ok to swap. Is it possible is the question.

Both are 3.0. Mine is a 5r44e and his is a 4r44e. So only one more gear in there which. I read something on switching bellhousings, but thats all i really got into. So My question to you guys is: Can you swap the 2002 5r44e trans into a 96 that had a 4r44e trans? And if so, what pieces are needed (for example, bellhousing swap, computer, harnesses, etc.)?

Let me know cause it would be sweet to sell the transmission so I can get more money for the project.

pretty sure the TSS and OSS sensor connectors are different and the range sensor connector is probably different too, so ill say no...he needs a trans like 99 and older

no because a 02 ranger has a sohc motor and the 96 ranger has a ohv motor

SOHC motors have the same bellhousing pattern except one bolt

and he said they are both 3.0's anyway

no, the sensor holes and what they do are totally different, the 5r has another gear than the 4r and alot of different internal parts
