Trans swap

I got a ford ranger 96 5spd The trans has begun giving me some issue lately so i decide that i would just throw another one in. I work in a auto dismantling yard and we got this one ranger in. I think it is 97-98 its a 5spd everything is the same as my ranger except for the motor.my ranger has 3.0 v6 and the one i want to get the trans out of is a inline 4. Are the bell housing and trans the same will they bolt right up or are they different. They look similar please help thank you.

Bellhousing bolt pattern is different for all three engines of that era and the bell is part of the transmission case. So, no, it wont interchange as a complete unit. Most, if not all internal parts should be the same between 2.3 and 3.0.
