Transmission

This is probably a question already asked but is there any transmissions that will interchange with a 94 4.0. I have a A4LD from a 91 ranger and it now falls out of fear while driving like it’s been kicked in neutral then it engages again. I’m assuming it will be easier get another transmission than rebuild this one. So what autos or manuals with work with the motor or if there is any?

In 1985 Rangers got computer controlled automatics, just one solenoid at first then in 1987 2 solenoids, these were the A4LDs used until 1994 Rangers
Then 5 solenoids were added the name changed to 4R55E, from 1995 to 1997, then name changed again to 5R55E for 1998-2011
Basically the same transmission inside just needed more outside control.

You can only use an 1988 to 1994 A4LD, because your 60 wire EEC-IV computer can only control a 2 solenoid automatic, 1995 and up Rangers use 104 wire computer, and you can't easily switch you wiring over.
They quit making the A4LD 25 years ago in 1994, so a used one will be very used, lol, but for sure rebuilt at least once.
They were used in theseIf its a 4.0l it will fit your 1994 4.0l, also must match 2WD or 4WD no conversion between the two is possible
From a 3.0l won't work, a 2.9l will work

Your symptoms reads like you may just need a new valve body, which can be done without pulling out the transmission
Very hard to diagnose an automatic on-line

Manual trans swap is possible but alot of work
You would use an M5OD-R1 manual trans from a 1990-1997 4.0l Ranger, and 2WD or 4WD which ever you have, 1990-1997 have speedometer hookup[, 1998 and up do not
Flywheel and clutch for 4,0l engine
You need the pedal assembly
And clutch master kit
Drive shaft for manual trans, matching regular cab or extended cab length

Floor plate for shifter and boot
