Transmission reinstall

When I pulled my M5OD-r1 from my 97 ranger, it was in neutral. After inspecting the gears and forks, I reinstalled it in 1st gear without realizing it. Is this a bad thing??? I'm assuming I'm going to have to pull it again and manually put it in neutral because I can't right now.. Although I haven't started the truck yet, I just finished putting the driveshaft back on. Do I need to pull it again?

No, just use a screwdriver to move and line up the shift fork slots.
It feels locked because you are in 1st gear, push clutch pedal in one time then release, that will remove input shaft pressure, then try rocking the vehicle, rear wheels/driveline, to release pressure on the output shaft.
But be careful, when it shifts you WILL be in Neutral so truck can roll away
