trouble disengaging 4wd

its a good idea, but with mine it will come out and the motor works fine just it is in a bind so it wont come out. i plan to check it anyways thanks.

oh i dont doubt it, that some of my mods are making it harder for it to come in and out easily, but if its an issue i can fix ill try to fix it. but if its something that goes along with 4.56s and 35s with high drive shaft angles then i will learn to deal with it.
Ford says that there is no speed limit for changing from 2HI to 4HI and back. Any speed is OK.
The tire size mismatch is definitely going to cause a bind on high traction surfaces, though, and make it reluctant to come out of 4WD. It is the equivalent of driving it in 4WD with slightly mismatched axle ratios front and rear.

thanks bob, i have thought about the gear ratio as well, but Scott had these same gears in his truck with no issue so that pretty much rules that out.

oh ok, as in the same effect. i understand now, was thinking of it differently
its always the little things that seem to bite you in the ****......well in your case not to little considering you just paid 500 for tires but you get my drift........i cant even imagine going over 70 in 4wd let alone 90 lol

i was on the interstate... ie dry surface, just showing that it could go in and out of 4wd at that speed... doing it on a dry surface for a short time going strait is fine, just dont turn or take corners or get on the gas hard.
if anyone doesnt believe me read your manual...

tried it goin down the interstate today..the light never came on..and couldnt tell a difference..keep it in drive? and flipp da switch to high?
did you let off the gas?
mine still goes in at any speed just wont come out unless going slower than 20.
i got lots of front end issues tho, bad hub bearing in the front, bad inner tie rods the list goes on... lol

OK, so here I go again. Even if you could or even if the manual doesn't say not to, why in the hell would you have the desire to activate 4-HI at such a speed. Please tell me. What possible good can be done by doing so? Please enlighten me.

that isnt the point, the point was someone said it couldn't be done so i proved it to them.
it was in the summer on the interstate, it can be done, right now i could go out and i know it will go into 4wd at that speed again.
go back about 25 years in your life and ask yourself why you drove fast? and dont tell me you didnt.
it was all a matter of proving that it will work, doesnt mean i actually needed 4wd at that time.
in the end its my truck, dont really care if i mess it up
