find you a socket that fits just inside the d-shaft loop for the u-joint, and beat the F out of it, safely though... thats how i get em out at work, cuz the shops too cheap to buy the right tools... you did take the snap rings out right?

Yes I did, I am a diesel Mechanic, and I know how to change a U-joint, I just havent done it on a ranger. Its a lot smaller than A semi truck. And I already used a socket, it didn't budge.

Well I didnt take it as an insult, I know there are people who would try to do that, but I don't have the right tools here at home. Your right without the right shop tools its hard.

nice!

I did mine on a piece of 2x12, using a 4lb hammer, and vice grips gripped to a deep craftsman socket that was slightly smaller than the cap. Did it on concrete. Piece of cake. Cracked the socket...but it's all good....it's a craftsman. come on now. lol.

RangerErv has a good how-to on this using a vice.

Thanks for the idea, but I got it I also use a socket and a pair of vicegrips. But I used a 8lb sledge. I held the socket while my friend swung the sledge. Now thats friendship.:)
