I cut my member out. Its not holding anything, and at full rear flex the bigger dia. custom shaft I have now clipped it some. Its been almost 8 months now and no problems without it.
If you decide on a 1 piece I hope your goes right in. I was thinking mine was til I was a week without a truck.

Drilled the rivets out and pulled it out. I know many people that have and have not had a problem. Only thing its holding is the bearing.
My truck is only 2wd and I had vibration real bad so I put in another bearing. 3 months later it was shot. I went to the junk yard and got a shaft out of a 2wd thinking it would be the same length. Wrong. 3 inches to short. Measured and took it back. No shaft was long enough for my 2wd. Checked with other yards and nothing the right length.
Finally got a shaft made for $212. No problems now. Just was a headache dealing with it. So measure from the diff ring to the tranny before going out to get a shaft. Although 4x4 shafts should be the same. I thought 4x2 shafts would be the same.
