sorry guys handn't checked this in a few days. Im looking for SOHC its for a 4x4 I want to spend no more than $500, the local junkyard has one of an 01 for $400 with 94000 miles on it, seams like a real good deal to me, the first couple places i called were closer to $1000.

I have a nice 4.0 SOHC. Stock. ~26,000 miles. No issues. Synthetic oil since break in.
This engine is from my 2003 4x4. (4WD matters because the 03 4.0 SOHC 4x4 engine has an internal balance shaft assembly that the 2WD version lacks.)
Located in Michigan. Sorry, $500 is too low for this primo engine. PM if interested.

Got one from my 01 4x4 wreck, 130k on it. Top end is torn off, was going to rebuild it but let me know if you need it, might let it go real cheap after I make sure the bottom end is good (truck rolled, just need to make sure it did not lock from oil/lack thereof).
Damn Bob, wish my wife's truck had more miles on it and I knew it would not rust out before a 2nd engine!

Ok so I just put a $1000 deposit on a 2010 f150 xlt, 5.4 6spd supercab 4x4. It was dumb i think, but they got me financing and if i can come up with $4000 more for a total of $5000 down it will cost me 430 a month, which i can afford. So, I need to make money on this truck, i dont think its looking good selling it as is
2003 Ford Ranger LIFTED 5" 4WD
it has been up for a week and everyone wants it for $3k, so im thinking if anyone here could sell me a motor they know works, I could find someone with a shop to help me swap it in and I could get 7k at least for the truck, and if i spend $1000 on the repair it will be worth it.
Carl how much for your motor?

For the price Zabeard is offering, I could not touch that! Mine would take rebuilding, plus it has 130k on it. Too bad you can't get the truck to VT, I have the hoist and garage to do it in.

And zach I just don't think I'm comfortable buying a motor that was supercharged

I didn't say that it had to be, only that it matters.
In 2003 and several other years, Ford only put the balance shaft 4.0 SOHC engine in the 4x4's. I guarantee that Henry wouldn't have spent the extra money if there wasn't a good reason - like a vibration problem for example. Would a 2WD engine function in a 4x4? I don't see any reason why not. It just might not function quite as well.
