"2 grueling hours of masking" aka Fx4wannabe01's Tease 5.1

So...I decided to just quit the masking. Weather has gotten way too cold today for paint. And if I leave the masking tape on, it'll leave stickyness which won't help too much when I go to peel it off and clear the entire piece.
FAIL numero dos.
What no flare thing? See me avatar noob!

I know everyone will make their truck the way they want it to look but what’s up with the Ranger Plate anyway.
I have an ’03 with just the word Ranger no extra chrome sort of how FX4wannbe01’s will look after painting, so why bother.
I do come from a place in time that had decking and shaving .
Just asking, nothing more.

^ ^ ^ It's opinionated, but alot find the 06+ badge better looking than the old style badges. I'm only doing it to match the rest of my '06+ stuff I've got on my truck(mirrors, tailgate, corners, tails, etc). And that big blob of chrome just don't look right on my truck, so, on with the colormatching and making it unique. Though, if I had the tools and knowledge to do so, I'd be shaving emblems and flare holes. But I just don't have the skills to do that(the painting part of it). Gottle settle for something out of the box right?
Plus...emblem swapping makes a truck different than all the rest on the road.

There's more to my insanity though... stock '06 emblems look like total and complete *** on my truck. Black bumpers, black wheels, black headlights, dark tint, black box, black rack, etc...blahlblahblah. That blob of chrome is totally out of place on my truck*. I wanted something unique that basically no one else had, yet I wanted '06 emblems to carry on my '06 tidbit theme on the outside. I like both pre-05 and post-06 emblems, don't get me wrong. On my truck, the 06's fit right in. And who really cares that yeah, the old style emblems are black with chrome lettering and I'm doing that to the new emblems. We're talking two totally different style emblems here. That arguement is kinda invalid. lol.
*Exhibit A: Unfortunately, this is as close as I got to show my point. Imagine black headlights. Fat chrome blob I tell ya! lol.

hmmmm.....
look closely....
FINALLY got around to finishing them. Took advantage of masking at 4am and spraying on a low humidity, 65-75 degree day last week. And let me tell you, I learned that Duplicolor Top Coat LOVES to be sprayed on wet and thick!! I must've totally forgot about this! lol. This time around, I used one of my two reminding Duplicolor DWB cans since I found 'em hidden in my shop(thanks again Tre for your help cleaning the shop!!!). Also this time around, I went ahead and used a different tape....green 3m this time. Used a 2" roll for the bulk and used a 3mm roll for touchups. That thin tape is AWESOME on corner lenses!! Spendy for just corner lenses but I find myself using that $9 roll every now and again. I think they look amazing on the truck and match not only the paint almost perfectly, but match the flow of the truck perfectly as well. In some pictures, the DWB of the emblems disappear and show only the Ranger text! I just absolutely love 'em. Quality on these new ones are many times better than the first one I did that's been on my tailgate for the last 2 years or so.
Here's a zoomed in shot of the first one above.... I don't have any other shots to show other than what's below..........yet. lol.
masking in bed at 4am. lol.

1: I taped a Ranger XLT 06+ emblem on the side a few weeks back and still didn't like it.
2: I have two sets of center caps....one painted black w/ chrome ford logo....one bone stock all chrome.
3: I found a chrome bumper under the bedliner when I was chemical stripping it. Have you like not seen my avatar for the past 2 months???
4: I refer you to post 106 on page 6 for what I kept looking at and wishing I had...
