Painted Handles?

Anyone paint their handles on the outside of their truck to match their paint? How do they come off, both door and tailgate?

I believe the door handles are riveted from the inside. The rear is held on with two bolts.

As far as painting goes, I would personally take the individual pieces to a body shop, but you could prep yourself by sanding, painting, and clearing.

The tailgate is easy though. Just remove the access panel, then take off the two nuts holding the handle on. Painting is made easier with a metal handle ($5 at a junkyard or eBay, $20 at a parts store) since it is already smooth and you just have to remove the factory paint.

If you do drill out the door handles and paint them, can they be put back on easily with bolts or such?
I am interested in doing this myself.
