Painting Fender Flares

Anyone ever painted their fender flares? I have all white ones and i like the way the fx4s have em. Think itd go better with my truck also. Been searching the junker for a good year now and never ever seen one 4x4 ranger in it. Anyone have a clue how to do it nicely? Sand + paint? Thanks!

ps. you can see my fenders in my avatar pic

Remove flares, scuff the paint with some 400grit since they're painted(220g if textured) so the primer or adhesion promoter has something to stick to, spray on Dupli-Color Adhesion Promotor(basically clear primer, 3 coats), squirt on the Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating in a can. You may or may not have to have a base coat of black just to get the color right first.

Here's pics of my Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating (bedliner in a can) on my flares, valence, and bumper. If prepped like I said above, you shouldn't have any chipping issues. I only have chipping issues in the areas where I skimped on the prepwork.....and this is about 3 years after doing them.

I'd just use bed liner like Shane suggested. O’Reilly’s actually has the Herculiner roll-on bed liner on sale for $49.99 this week if you have one nearby.

Shane, love your first pic.

I honestly don't know. It's been 3 years. lol. And remember, I did my flares, valence, and re-lined the chrome bumper.

Anywhere that carries Dupli-Color products probably carries it or can get it for you. O'Reilly's/Schucks/Checker/Kragen stocks it.

Thanks! I may post some from the set in a new thread sometime.

Roll-on bedliner is far far too rough IMO. That washmit will be caught on the pricklys. I liked the Duplicolor stuff because it's rough, yet very smooth and washable. Little tricky figuring out how to spray it, but once you get the hang of it, you got it.

I have a set off of a 02 fx4 I would trade you. I have been searching the junkyards for a set of flares off of an edge with no luck.

When doing the bumper do you also have to take that off the truck or can you prep it and spray the dupli color while it is still on the truck..

Where abouts do you get the plastic or nylon fasteners when you are ready to put the fenders back onto the truck?..
