Removing bed bolts

tried soaking them in pb-blaster... ratchet with cheater bar and an impact gun couldnt get them off...

any easy way to get them off without having to retap the holes? i havent been under the truck but are they attached with clips that can be removed?

Use the blue wrench aka torch. Heat em up real good and then use the breaker bar.

you can pop those clips off..flat head screwdriver and they pop off..they have a clip that holds them in the hole..not to bad..just make sure you dont shear the bolt off that could cause some problems..

can you get to the clip now..try some heat if you got some..

also one more trick..try to tigthen it some more..even if its one click..it might break it loose knock the rust off..

i took mine off my truck once the bed was off..actually lost two of them..went to the junkyard and got two..

without crawling under the truck thats gunna be fun..id heat the ones away from the gas tank to see if that gets them..then try that one last..

heat will do it..while you got your torch melt the snow :)

also keep soaking them in PB

The clips wont come out without first takin the bolts out. The bolts go through the top of the clip, through a hole in the frame, then through the threaded part of the clip.

Try tightening the hitting the head of the bolt with a big ****ing hammer. Shocking the bolt should help break the rust bond

yeah it wasnt the best but it was better than me at the time. any mich BL meets soon ha? ill take a trip up there and get it taken care of properly

breaker bar was just awkward in the bed because its such a small area, couldnt get a good turn out of it, plus the torx grooves are also rusted so it slips out easily

if heard of the atf/acetone mix but never tried it... ill have to give it a shot
