Third Brake Light

I was looking into doing the mod of switching my all red third brake light to one with cargo lights.... wondering if anyone knows if there is any other choice of light to go with besides the rangers or sport tracs. I dont really like the look of them, i see other trucks with cargo lights that have a red outline around the white, wanted to get something like that. Just got to find one that fits.

And real quick, you just unscrew the old light, splice into your dome light to get power to the cargo lights, then bolt the new one on right?

I have a CHMSL from a 2007 F250. It's similar to the CHMSL w/ cargo lamps from the 93-08 Ranger, 01-05 Sporttrac, 99-06 F250 but the red center is lighter. Other than that, you'll have to go after market.

You only options for third that fit rangers are rangers, explorer sport tracs, and superduty's. OR aftermarket being all those ugly led ones made for a ranger or superduty.

If you get one with cargo lamps, make sure to get the 3 bulb harness to replace your 1 bulb harness. If you have a 03 and older, it's completely plug and play. roll up on your dimmer switch(the same 'click' to turn on your dome light) and the cargo's will light up...so long you installed the 3 bulb harness.

Super Duty's have special ones that fit the ranger.....light up brighter and are way cooler looking...I call it 'iced' looking.......here's a comparo of stock ranger vs. stock 08 superduty....

Other than a junkyard, do you know of a place to get a 3 bulb harness? Do you know the part number?

Thanks!

Fx4wannabe01, are the wiring harness connections the same on an 04 ranger as they are on a superduty? I cant find your how-to on this so maybe since this is a LIVE FORUM you could help me out a little instead of just telling me to search it. I am going to buy a third brake light off of an 08 superduty and want to know if i can just plug it in to the original harness with the exception of splicing the cargo light wire into my dome light. will that work or not? If not what do i need to do?
Thanks.
