Yeah there are How-To's on both of them.

 

Sure will, they won't bolt straight on but its pretty easy to make them work.

 

I already answered one of those for you. Yes on both counts. I've got both on mine.

 

Well guys I didn't buy them. They took way too long and I don't know but I never get a good deal at Junkyards. They must look at me and think that I'm made of money.

They wanted $75/each mirror
They wanted $50/each tail light

That's crazy for those parts....

I also tried to look at the HowTo but the member got banned and the information is gone :(

 

$50 per tail light? damn, ebay sells them for like 30 a piece, mirrors are like 60ish. Bs.

 

For mirrors...you DO NOTwant aftermarket....they wiggle and shake driving down the road.


That yard you went to.....is that just their asking price? How about you talk 'em down. That's what I do...that's how i got a L2 axle for $100. That's how I get radio bezels for about 10. That's how I got L2 seats for 75.

 

I asked them if they could give me a better price and they said no.

Went to a junkyard this morning and found a 2001 Sport Trac instrument cluster and they wanted $150.

I think they are discriminating against me because I've driven up in my Mercedes C55 AMG before I sold it.

 

youre right about the aftermarket mirrors, i replaced my right side mirror with a china knock off. it doesnt shake or rattle (unless the bass hits lol) but the thing faded really bad. it looks terrible compaired to my oem one on the other side. so, do the ebay 06-up tails fade, or are they decent quality? $50 a peice from a j/y seams pretty high IMO

 

Don't ask if they can give a better price... OFFER a better price... if my customers walk in and ask for a discount that's one thing, but if they ask me to throw something in at N/C or throw out a number then I work with them more...

I bought my first set of OEM 06+ tails for about $120 shipped....it was OEM. And they were perfect.

Certifit has '06 tails for about $35 each or so....Depo brand......seem to be just like OEM quality...so does their corner lamps...

Nothing against you... but with my customers I find the nicer the car the cheaper the guy that drives it...

 

Shane.... is it just the lighting in that photo, or is (or was, at the time) your brother missing a lugnut on his rear driver's side wheel? in the 6 o'clock position, it looks like there's a stud there with no lugnut on it.

 

I hear you but hell, shouldn't you treat all customers the same? No matter what they drive or whether they speak or don't speak English?

Oh god....Slowrey...dont turn it into this.... Yards can charge what they wanna charge. I'm a frequent junkyarder. There are yards i do not go to because they are rip off yards. manual clothe seats for $300!?? Center consoles for $100? WHAT!?!?

You dont wanna pay what they want, make an offer. If that fails, go elsewhere. Dont b!tch about it. It's business.

 

yeah, well I do have an eye for details... sometimes, I'll only catch it subconsciously, but I still see it. must be all that time spent in science labs, or the love of mystery novels, or watching too much CSI..

Hey man I know how I get treated at the three junkyards in my town. Remember I DO live in Texas. When four people come in and get helped and I don't and I'm standing there looking at the parts guy and he doesn't acknowledge me, I think there's a problem. Call it what you will however it doesn't make it right... Also, my previous statement was EVERYONE should be treated with the same respect no matter what. We're all customers right?

Also I'm glad you have a great relationship with your junkyards. I have always tried to frequent them however I have not had any luck.

 

Does anyone in Austin, TX know of other good junk yards?
