The guy I bought the truck from sprayed some of that **** on the door to cover the rust and now its faded and the rust is showing. Is there anything I can do to repair this mess?
The rocker panel looks a little scary also, I'd be going over the rest of the body before spending to much money on this truck
Any idea what those wheels are off of ? and are those locking hubs on a 2007 Ranger?
No not sure where they wheels came from. My mechanic had some for sale so I took them. Rims are from a Ford explorer I believe or some other large SUV. And no no locking hubs its an 2 wheel.
Just finished replacing a rusty door on a 2006, the worse part I found was drilling out the rivets to remove the power window motor from the old door (couldn't find a non rusty power door around here anywhere so did the manual to power conversion). The next issue we had was realigning the new door once it was on the hinges, so it was a snug fit at the handle end and not rubbing the body panel at the front. Overall it was a pretty simple job that took my son and I a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. Neither of us had done anything like this before but managed to do a decent enough job.
Best advice is to ask question on the forum, and watch YouTube videos, there are plenty of them.
Also 2006-2011 doors are a match and save your mirror from the old door if it's got the color matched inset on the front. Some junkyards will charge you for the mirror and the interior panel, so if you don't absolutely need either, leave them at the junkyard. Pretty simple to remove both.
Forgot to mention, 2006-2011 doors are fully compatible, earlier years will fit (not sure how far back) the difference is in the mirrors. 2006 and newer models have different mounting hole positions for the mirror. So if you save your old mirror because of the color or the slight style changes over the years, you should be looking for a '06 and up door. There is a post on here somewhere that shows you how to adapt between the two types of mounts. So that might help you out if you can find it.

Luckily mine doesn't have power windows so it should pretty well be as simple as taking the bolts out of the hinges and swapping doors.
