winch

Has anyone ever installed a winch (manual or 12v) in the bed of their pick up? I'm thinking about installing one to help me pull my quad up the ramps and into my bed.

It's not as easy as you think, the bed of a ford ranger as you may know isn't as wide as bigger models, the wheel wells cause a problem for one. The other thing is that a sport quad doesn't have 4 wheel drive so only the rear wheels are spinning and when you get to a certain point (becuase of the height of my truck) the quad wants to flip backwards, a winch would help out greatly.

Good idea.

The couple times I took mine I just pushed it up. Mine is only 125cc and weighs nothing I can image if you have a big 500cc 4x4 beast.

I always just park with my back tires in a ditch and my tailgate on the other side of the ditch making the angle less severe and just drive it up. But not everyone has a ditch around, so just to give those who do have a ditch an idea.

Thats kinda what I do but instead my driveway has a huge dip in it from the gutters and when my back ires go in there my tailgate is only 6 inches off the ground.

Well what I did was make my quad ramp longer by a extra 2 feet. Less of a angle and less of my going through the back window as well.
