That's some great work Zach! I'd like to see some pictures of how you welded them to the frame though!

Problem is I dont have a bender to mess around with. One day I will have one though and as time permits I will start experimenting.

I will get some tonight. I dont think the mounting will be a problem. its going to be the tube length off the frame since it is 15" long. Might need to do like 5 supports to spread the load.

Not my cup of tea in sliders though. I don't know...i just never have liked anyhting tubular. I've got mine partially built using 2x6x0.120 rectable stock. Partially built meaning all i've got done is getting the stock. lol.
The assumption on round is that they will slide easier off of a snagged surface, rather than rectangular tubing that may not.

I am making mine out of 2x4 stock. And I'm in the same stage of construction as you, all I have done is the stock is sitting in the garage.lol

If you haven't already, welding the bars to a square of flat stock, and then welding the flat stock to the frame would be a great idea. Also, stick some small 1.5" triangle gussets above and below the tube where it meets that flat stock. You'll be all set :biglaugh

not to threadjack or anything.....this is pretty much how mine will be built......tapered ends and capped off. This is 2x4....but for the ranger, it needs to be wider for the fat rockers...i'm using 2x6.

plus kyle would get a boner seeing a sammy on rf.

too low? dont you have to worry about body and frame flex? we left a 1/2" from the pinch weld on the body...

Yea, I just dont like that gap between the main bar the body. I also dont like how much the bent bar is angled up. but my gripes are just athestics stuff. They look like they will work great.

But I like to do things differently anywho. Ive already marked off on my body where Im going to cut the rockers out to the bottom of the doors and 2x4 box is going to go in its place.

do you still have a body lift? or maybe you never did I cant remember. I just didnt want to make something that I had to modify the body or run a risk of messing up the body.

i dont think we could have put them any closer to the body. were like 1/2in away. plus when u bottom out there going to flex a little no matter how strong u build it. this way its got a good 1/2 in before any serious damage.

Im refering to the main bar not the bent add on. The main bar looks to be about 2" lower then the body. I would have made it closer and then not placed as great of an angle on the bent bar so it stuck out from the side of the truck more, instead of up at such an angle like it is.

When i have the money for a bender then i will be making them as time allows. right now i need to focus my money on my D44 and D60 so i can have them before the dunes trip.

If I had 2 more people and could make 2 more sets local then i could buy a bend prolly.

Dont forget you will have to weld them on.

Let me know how much I owe you on a bender. I may help out since I need bumpers and stuff.

I am just not sure on the steel I want to use.
