Well I finally got started on my skidplate for my truck. Superlift wants
200 and some change (more than I have in my couch) for their pip-sqeak skidplate that probabley would take hit to save it's life from a rock. So I figured I would make my own. I know the one that comes with the offroad package is a joke also.

I went down to my local steel supplier and picked up a piece 25x18 1/4 plate steel. Heavy and really stout stuff. Anyway I worked on it a bit tonight. I wanted maximum (sp?) coverage for the two front crossmembers, and that is a problem when it comes to the hardware being in the way. Here's what I got done tonight:

Both sides cut, need some fine trimming and needs to be cleaned and the rough edge's cleaned up:

nice man..guess your making one to protect the front diff?

Heres mine i made out of 1/8in aluminum to protect the radiator..old pics i had before it was mounted....





I tweaked it a little more before i mounted it.

 

NICE!!! I've been tossing this idea ever since i install the superlift. To mount, I was going to weld little 1x1 pieces of angle iron to the SL crossmembers, then a hole on the other sideof the angle. Use that as a mounting point for the plate. Probably weld some carriage bolts to the skid, and grind the heads off, fill where needed. or hell....cut the head off the carriage bolt and weld the rest to the skid. Thanks for more ideas guys!!
