Here you go , they came out dark but anytime I moved closer they would galre to bad from clear coat on them . As you can see in the first one I tapped 5-10 reads together at base and faned them out and just over layed to get the stripe camo . One thing I did learn was your base coat will make it lighter or darker depending on color of base .
On this one I scuffed with fine steel wool , then layed 3 coats of Adhesion promoter , then 4-6 coats of primer to cover scuff marks then 2 coats of SAND for base , from there I just layed coats in BLACK , BARK , OLIVE , KHAkI in sections to get the efect you see . then 3 coats of clear varnish . So there is plenty of coats to scratch off , I just didnt think it would hold as well on metal for some stupid reason .
The next rifle I used the same process as far as paint & prep but I used Saw grass and leafs instead of reads so it is more woodland breakup . Once again lots of pain so Im not worried about it scratching off .

Looks good. I dunn even know what the adhesion promoter is, and I only did one base coat, and no primer. I just used a handfull of grass for my pattern. Didnt tape it and kept spreading it or bunching it up, so it all looked different.
I also learned that the short quick sprays worked alot better when you go over the grass patern.
I'll shoot ya a PM on how bad that gun chipped away.

Yeah the first one I taped , but like you said I didnt like it because it looked fake . So the secodn one I did like you mentioned used differant types and just held in place .
Adhesion promoter is specail bonder for painting on plastic , most people who pain the interior of there trucks use it to help paint adheir to plastic that gets lots of friction . I had a bunch left over form my Interior paint scheme I did , so I just tried and use it up .
I think it has helped because I entionally tried scraping it off and it hasnt chiped yet .
You really dont have to go to the extreeme I did , I just wanted to kill alot of time I was really bored when I did this . lol
