An evil Idea...
x2, I'm not going to believe any of this crap until I see pictures.
I don't think Virginia would care unless maybe you were in Northern VA. We don't have emissions testing or anything else out here. They never pop the hood or plug anything in either. I don't see what the problem would be or why you would even tell DMV.
I plan to put a 302 in mine if I ever blow the 3.0 up. Other people here have put V8's in with the computer and anti-theft system, it wouldn't be that hard.

I do, I don't know why they haven't banned him yet... He's been banned elsewhere. Maybe they like the entertainment.
So the rats come out....
So I am a complete idiot huh? Well you guys are nothing but bloggers who have nothing better to do than down someone for an idea. I did ask for some help but I got this instead. So all who put me down and offered no help or advise can go strait to hell. Why don't you guys get a life.

This from the guy who spends hours here spewing BS stories.
No matter...
It doesn't matter now any way. I cancelled the project because the price tag kept getting higher and higher. They wanted me to put more into my truck than it's worth. Plus for the amount of money they wanted me to spend I can get a Factory Five Roadster and put what ever I wanted under the hood and still have money left over. They basicly told me that if I had a 5.0 Mustang we'll sale you the kit and you're done. They also mentioned a 3 day build school at Mott Community College where I can attend and have my car assembled as well if I wanted to. The complete kit is around $25K which is everything including the engine. MY APOLOGIES GENTLEMEN FOR LOSING MY TEMPER. please forgive me. plus I don't spend alot of time on here anymore cause I just got too much to do.
Forgive and forget...
I have no ill will towards anybody. Plus I didn't want to ruin this:
Even though I aint washed or waxed it in over a year. It looks too good to do anything to it other than what I have done already.

Not to the one shown below. i thought I'd run it by you guys first. I want to use an older model ranger so I can still keep this one. I found 2 old rangers, one was an 87 ext. cab the other was a 94 stepside. Both had a dire need of excessive bodywork. Both were of a salvage title. The 87 model had a V6 that was too small to even consider a V8 without basicly chopping it in half. The other ended up getting the title changed from salvagable to totaled because the frame was missing a huge chunk out of it near to where the gas tank was. By the time you fixed the frame and re squared it, you had already spent more than what you wanted to and still had nothing to basicly show for it with the exception of a new frame that didn't fit the body anymore.
The guys I talked to basicly wanted me to shell out around $35,000 dollars just for the engine. I don't know about you guys but if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be doing just a V8 swap, I'd be doing a complete full blown restoration rotisserie and all. plus the reason I want an older model is because I'm old school. I like the simplicity of carbs and a simple wiring harness. That is my goal. Also if I had $35K I wouldn't be doing that to a ranger, I'd be buying either a used SVT Lightning, or a used F150 Harley Davidson edition.
If anybody has any ideas or suggestions please post them freely. Any help is better than no help. dlibson, no hard feelings dude. but if you have any suggestions or input you're more than welcome to post them. After seeing your avatar and doin some serious thinking maybe you can offer alot more knowledge than you do in other threads. because I know you aint giving away your trade secrets, but maybe you can steer someone in the right direction. I do have a few skills. Wiring, welding and metal work, detailing (the photo below says that considering it aint been washed or waxed in over a year) very limited engine skills. I get confused easily because of a past addiction which I beat. The stuff seems to get mixed up in my head when I get too much info.
Okay, simple man. Cut the crap and just be normal. Take any Ranger, the one you have now. Buy a decent $3500-$5000 crate engine and drop it in. Done. Running, easy. Then drive it and smile...
I have plenty to say towards helping. But you make it way to complicated for your self. Leave the life stories out. The stories about frames and rust bodies, we don't care. True or not. Keep your posts quick, simple, to the point, and truthful. Then you'll get the help your looking for.
Otherwise, just quit and leave it alone.
