fullsize FTW!!

I know its not as nice as scotts but i did the fullsize mod last week. the motor blew in my 99 passat dd about a month ago and i decided i couldnt handle a car anymore, so i bought a truck instead. its a 2005 f150 stx 4x4. it has a 4.6, auto trans, manual windows, locks, mirrors, transfer case, vinyl floor... and get this 223,000 miles i went and got a sticker on it saturday since i bought it as is where is with out a sticker and the guy said the truck looks like it has less than a 100k on it. i had to do a little work to it for the sticker but just typical wear items like all new pads and rotors, a headlight, a plate light, upper and lower ball joints, and a vacuum hub.

heres the only pic i have right now but im gonna try to get some more this weekend

let me know what you guys think

Good looking truck! Besides the 4.6L being a little underpowered you should have no problems with it.

I agree about the 4.6 being underpowered but it will help save on gas. Maybe if it decides it doesn't want to run anymore ill swap in a 5.4. I have just under 6k in the truck after repairs. Exhaust should be either this weekend or next then I definitely have to change that ugly stx grill.

It looks like a nice truck! But personally I wouldnt buy anything with more then 150k period. I would be too scared it would crap out on me. Is it just me or does 6k seem like a lot for the milage?

When you consider that a siimilar truck with say 120k on it would go anywhere from 12-16ish thousand dollars, I'd say its a fair price for the condition. Add on top of that the fact that I'm only 20 and have a son to provide for, there's no way I could afford the lower mileage truck.

My other option was an 01 4door taco. Bl'd on 33's with 189k on a 4.0. I like my choice. Ill leave the tacos for Dave.

$6,000 isn't horrible for that. You could probably part it out and get close to that back.

Looks like its in good condition for the mileage. Price doesn't sound too bad either.

My dads 07 Chevy has 280k on it and runs great...he has maintained with no major repairs it and it runs like new.

Ill try to get it up on my buddies lift and get some better pics to show the skeptics how good of condition the truck is in.

Other than s couple small dents the body is almost as good as the 04 my grandfather had. He bought it new and sold it in 09 with 20000 miles if that tells you anything. He told me if I do annything he doesn't approve of with this truck that he is going to steal it neecause he likes it so much.

Nice truck. It looks solid and those miles wouldnt scare me at all. For what you have into it and the condition its in it would be no thing to drop an engine in it if that one goes but I wouldnt worry much about that. Everyone seems to think these days that high miles on a truck means its destined for the scrap yard but thats just not the case.

Unless I know the maintenance history of the truck I would be scared. You have no idea what it's been through all that time.

I've seen plenty of high mileage trucks and cars that run great that I wouldn't mind owning, but that's because I know how well taken care of they are.

I'm not assuming your truck is junk, I don't know anything sbout it. I'm just giving you my surface level reaction.

Dont let the milage scare ya. I have seen WAAAAY more poor condition low milage cars than lower milage ones. (I worked at a Ford Dealership in the shop for 4 years). For some reason the people who drive their vehicles further (aka on the highway going to and from work) seem to maintain them better than the owners who rarely drive them. Crazy. (also.. the cheaper the vehicle the better the maintenance too haha. Guess those owners know they NEED that vehicle to get to and from work.

People with Lincolns, or top of the line fords were usually the worst when it comes to selling proper maintenance packages to. They all want everything for nothing.

Nice looking ride! I think that's a decent deal. I sold my 01 a few months ago and it had 230,000 on the odometer. The truck was in great shape and was a crew, but I got 5500 for it and it was only for sale for 2 weeks!

gonna try to get some pics and maybe a video tomorrow, i half crossed off the exhaust today. maybe next weekend i can put tailpipes on. i just used the super 44 i had on the ranger. single 2.5 in dual 2.25 out. gonna have both pipes exit in front of the passenger rear. its a little more agressive than i wanted but i can live with it. the girlfriend thinks its annoying so it must be just about right. lol

22x14? Whoa. Don't know if this helps you at all, but maybe skim through or join up and ask the guys over on the forum.
