I use my Ranger as my DD, but I have a 95 F250 that I use just for plowing my driveway, it serves it's purpose. It is a single cab, 8 ft bed, 4wd, 5.8L. I bought it a couple years ago for a few hundred bucks, replaced all the brake lines, battery, fuel filter and was good to go.
This winter I threw some gas in, she started right up and was running fine, but I realized the gas tank is leaking like crazy. Not a hose or line, but the tank itself is so rusted its leaking. I tried using the rear tank (the seller told me he never used it) and the truck sputtered and the engine died. After I put gas in the rear tank, it is leaking also threw the tank itself.
So, I need some new fuel tanks. Im at least going to replace the front one. I found this website:

But I do not know which tank to get. Can anyone help me as to which tank? there are side mount, rear mount, and 16 gal and 19 gal. Also do I need to buy new straps or anything else when I do the replacement? I'm assuming I'll have to cut some bolts to get the tank down.

I don't remember which trucks had what tanks, however if you search google you may find an owners manual that will tell you that info. I'd get new straps and hardware for sure, if there is any question of rust.

im pretty sure on my dads 90 f150 its one big tank that is just separate inside but one big one the outside

 

Throw a fuel cell in the bed and call it a day . . .

 

I would personally go with a single tank since you eliminate some problems such as the selector valve going bad and I am pretty sure you can get a plastic tank that is much better than the metal ones. For installation, I would take the bed off just to make it easier.

 

RCLB used both style tanks; 19 gallon for the C6/ZF 5 speed, 16 gallon for the E4OD.
