Icon7 Gas tank questions - need help

hello again everyone, hope all is good out there...i dont know what id do without this site. so many problems have been resolved, so again, i have another. (again, i have an 89 ranger, single cab, swb., 2.9 V6) there seems to be a small hole in my gas tank. first question, is it steel, or plastic? and the other question, how do you fix this problem? its not a serious leak, but then again, even dripping, is gas that im already paying for. so if anyone has a comment, or a suggestion, please let me know. thank you all very much, and hope you all have a great weekend.

I think you should get a new tank. Go to a junkyard and look for one in better conditions than yours. Before you install it, put some spray-on liner on it to prevent rust or damage to it...

It should be plastic. The best way to repair is find a good tank. There should be good ones out there to find at a reasonable price. I am not sure I would trust an epoxy repair.

what would be the problem with buying a metal tank instead of another plastic? as this - my plastic tank is 17 G, and i found a steel/metal one that is 23 G, is this a good idea?

As long as it fits, then go for it. IMO
