1999 2.5l no ac equipped

I just bought this ranger it’s my first truck I got it with 150k for 1500$. No ac equipped so I know I need a better radiator and a condenser and the lines n all that but I was wondering it I could put the ac evap core in this housing if I cut holes for the lines? Idk if it’s even worth it at this point. Wish they sold a swamp cooler at least haha.

The lower picture is of an AC blower housing so yes, an evaporator will fit inside that housing

"Swamp cooler"
You may have a Re-circulation/Fresh air selector on dash controls, some non-AC models had that, in AC models it was for MAX AC

That opens an air intake just under the glove box, so pulls in air from inside the cab and shuts off air from the outside
Now if you were to put a smaller cooler full of ice under that intake.......................

If you were to take crushed ice and dump it into passenger side cowl vents, then outside air vent would pull in that cooler air until ice melted

Oh yea dude the second picture is of the opposite side I took the blower out. But yea I was thinking that ac evap core would go in there I just gotta drill the holes out. I would need a button to engage the new ac because there is no button on this dash. Also I busted blend door actuator now I gotta buy that.
but I like your idea of doing that. I even thought of making a small one behind the seats with a little pump and fan. It’s really dry in California. I made one a couple summers ago out of a plastic ice chest.
the box under the dash would safely hold ice?

For easier wiring you can put an AC button on the dash that's the ground for an AC relay in the engine bay

Button Ground wire runs thru firewall and then thru each Pressure switch and then to relay
Relay activates compressor clutch
Same Fused 12v power wire hooks in at 2 places on the relay, for activation and then to power the clutch

oh wow dude thanks so much!! Yea the wiring and the air box/evap was my main concern but thanks a lot for laying out the wiring. I’m gonna keep go at that plan for a real ac. I was even thinking yesterday of buying an oil cooler with a fan and have a separate ice chest to pump water thru it like a swamp cooler haha pretty dumb but it might work. Thanks for all the help man I will use your layout of the wiring and post the results. I’m waiting on from suspension parts and a new clutch so once I’m done with that hopefully all will be well. Heater core is clogged too.
