2001 ranger with 4.0

2001 ranger with 4.0

I need a motor for my truck its an xlt with the 4.0

..what motors are compatible and from what years
I found a 1998 2.3 with 65000 miles on it will it work?
any help is appreciated..very low on money and its the only vehicle we have

I think you'd probably be better off sticking with a 4.0. I don't know for sure but I believe the transmissions are different not to mention the wiring, ECM and mounts.

+1 ^^

As Newman said if you are low on money then rebuild or swap in another 4.0l SOHC
The SOHC engines are the newer 4.0l, not related to the 1990-2000 4.0l OHV

Swapping to a different engine requires:
Engine
trans
computer
wiring harness
Maybe instrument cluster and GEM
So not a budget job
