2002 Ford Ranger 4 cyl

Wanting to hear from anyone else who has a 4cyl with a closed water system. Radiator has no cap!
We ran into finding out we needed to use these parts!
No one at the part store could believe the cost for the thermosat & water reservior!
After chasing leak we replace the Thermosat & Water Pump.
Water pump cost $40.99 around the amount we figured on.
The Thermosat on the other hand was a whopping $144.99 WOW!!!
Was figuring around $15 - $30 not no $144.99!!!
We also had to replace the Water Reservior replacement cost $106.99, This we got lucky on & found one in excellent condition at B&R Wecking for $15
Would like to know others with the same truck..

Unbelievable price for plastic...

Exspensive..

Yes, the 2001-2003 2.3l Duratec used Heated Thermostat, and IMRC on the intake

In 2004 Ford dropped both of these on the 2.3l

You can use an unHeated thermostat(2004 2.3l) which is way way cheaper, $30-$40, but it will cause CEL(check engine light) to stay on
People either leave the heated thermostat plugged in and wire tied up out of the way, or add a larger resistor between the 2 wires to mimic a heater being hooked up
