2002 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0 V6

I'm looking for an engine. I want to know if there are other Ford motors that will fit without changing wiring.

Welcome to the forum

No, 3.0l OHV Vulcan engine used from 1986 to 2008 are the only block and heads that can be used with transmission and computer/wiring

Still Need Help

thank you so much for the help. That is a flex fuel, am I right? I need a gasoline engine for the same ranger edge. Is there other Ford motors that will fit right in?

Not all 3.0 Rangers are flex fuel. There were plenty that were not equipped with that setup. If the engine you're buying is from a junkyard, see if they can give you the vin number for the truck the engine came from. The engine ID will be the 8th digit in the vin. Non-Flex Fuel will have a U for the engine ID. For example: 1FTYR44U.

Flex fuel 3.0l had larger injectors for using Ethanol, and computer software to use the larger injectors, and that is all the difference there is

Flex fuel did have different head chamber shape but that doesn't matter since it runs fine on gas only, the point of the word "Flex" in Flex fuel, lol

So get ANY 3.0l Vulcan and swap in your injectors and use your computer and run only gasoline if that is your desire

Fact of the matter is, if you use your upper AND lower intake on the "new" 3.0l block it will make all the current 2002 wiring plug and play, and your injectors come over with that swap
