2007 2.3L tow capacity
I'm planning on building a trailer/mini home to live in. The problem is that I'm not sure if my truck can tow it. I live in VA, thus it would have to go up and down mountains. I see that the tow capacity is about 2,100lb but I'm not sure if thats what it can handle before the frame rips apart or if thats what the engine can pull. it would be a 5'x10' trailer, probably weigh in around 1600lb (as a rough guestamate).

You can read here: https://www.fleet.ford.ca/resources/...guideApr08.pdf
Page 18 has Ranger towing weight
This is the "legal weight" limits, it can tow more you just have to be careful with your insurance, if there is an accident, not even weight related or your fault, it you are over the "legal limit" your insurance company can walk away
Automatic transmissions are stronger than manual transmissions so can tow more weight, no its not a driver thing, lol.
Looks like you also need a 4.10 axle ratio with 2.3l engine
You can look up your ratio here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...le_codes.shtml
Its on the drivers door label
And just a heads up, there is also a GCWR, gross combined weight rating, this is the weight of the Ranger, the weight of everything IN the Ranger, people and gear, + the total weight of the trailer(gear inside too)
This has to do with Braking, maximum load the Ranger can stop in a reasonable distance
This should be on the drivers door label
