To cure boredom I go and build new rangers on the ford website. Normally I build up an XLT or FX4....but I decided to see how cheap an XL 4x4 would be. I got to the engines and it would let me put a 4.o in a regular cab short bed. I thought Ford quit putting them in there? Makes me want to go buy a new ranger.

 

If they do, they are very rare

 

I tried and tried to have Ford make me a mini Lightning. (a 2wd, std cab, 4.0L version) I even have contacts within Ford vehicle planning!! No can do. Closest I came was what you see on the web page. You can get a 4x4, std cab, 4.0L auto or manual. Also if you go through a dealership that deals in work trucks. You can usually get them to special order something that's stripped down if you want. Something the web sight doesn't really allow for.
