2wd to 4wd - took it for a ride!!!
Most of you know I have been working on my body swap 99 2wd to 98 4wd frame project. I got the truck running a couple days ago but I took it for about a 5 mile ride this evening. Ran great!!! Drove good. I have a few electrical gremlins to deal with but minor things I think. Of course the CEL is on, have to get the codes for that. Also have to deal with the brake light is on, maybe have more air in the system. Had an issue with the turn signal switch, (one of fords poor designs, my f150's switch acted up too) got it working. For some reason when your riding up the road the 4wd light would flash once in a while? Overall a pretty sucessful swap. Let me tell you this swap is not for the weak at heart. The body swap was pretty straightforward but the wiring is a complete pita. Had to change the engine compartment harness, the engine harness, the dash harness, the cab harness that goes to the transfer case, and the ignition harness from pats system to regular.

I gave the truck a quick wash and snapped a few pics. I never really cleaned it up since I bought it. As you can see I need wheels bad! Anybody have a good deal on some nice 15's? Actually as far as drivetrain I replaced the motor. The one in the 4x4 was locked up.
and here's one of old faithful, probably for sale soon

The nice thing is I now have a well optioned truck. The 99 and the 98(doner) both were loaded. pw pl cruise ac 4.0 auto 3:73L 5r55e cd electric mirrors 4 wheel antilock brakes romote entry....everything works!!! I have to bleed the brakes some more to get the brake light out, I have to change the drivers side exhaust manifold because the motor I used didn't have an EGR valve, and the camshaft sensor had to be changed and I did it without a tool so it needs timed or replaced(probably the only way I'll be able to get a tool). The flashing 4wd light was due to a bad connection at the fuse box, my pw and dome light were also working intermittently...good to go now
