3.0l bt50/ranger, still issues after headgasket replacement
Hi, i have a mazda bt50 3.0l 2007 model (same engine as the 2007 rangers and such) and few months ago the oem radiator popped and started leaking after replacing it twice with aftermarket units it was decided it must be the HG thats pressurising the system, a mechanic i went to did a pressure test straight after 2nd rad install and concluded that there was no signs of increasing pressure on the test under load but explained
he recently had a similar job and had no signs but after loading it up 7-8 times on the dyno as hard as possible he finally got the result of combustion pressurising the cooling system and explained it would have to be the same thing, after researching and thinking long hard and deep the decision was made to replace the head with a brand new one, new valves, oem head gasket, water pump, thermostat, radiator and all the seals.
this is the 3rd head gasket job ive done and made sure i tripple checked everying as this is my daily work ute its important that the works done properly, one reason i decided to do it myself.
after 23000klms and on a 42degree C day the temp gauge started rising, i caught it immediately and stopped the engine, popped the hood and once again the radiator has popped at the top :( after releasing the pressure and removing the cap the coolant was still high and didnt need filling (engine was warm tho) after managing to get home without the temp reaching above 3/4 MAXXXX (barely reached 3/4 at all at any time, stopped engine straight after temp gauge starts rising slightly) i am completely stumped, both my mechanics are lost and so am i.
The radiator cap hasnt been changed and i will do that now, a new thermostat will be installed just incase the last one was faulty and the system flushed over the next day or so.
Please help me out every day without the ute is a day without pay :( i spent so much fixing it last time thinking i was doing it properly now its happening all over again, ive been working on cars my whole life and im starting to thing the engine is just done, now with 373000klms, its a fair bit but we should get at least 500k out of these engines especially with top end overhaul as was done recently.
Thanks guys.

Welcome to the North American Ranger forum
Our Rangers are smaller that your BT50 or the T6 Rangers, which does have the same engine as yours
Ours used the 3.0l Vulcan gasoline/petrol engine
It was used in the Mazda B3000 but never in the larger BT50
