5 speed swap
Welcome to the forum
I assume you have a 2000 Ranger with automatic transmission now
What engine?
Transmission bell housings are engine specific, the 3 engines used in 2000 use different bell housing bolt patterns.
Manual transmissions do not have removable bell housings like they did in the past, 1988 and older
Your 2000 engine computer(PCM) will be setup to operate an automatic transmission, shift control.
Manual transmission PCMs don't have that, so the PCMs are different for auto and manual
So you will want to get a manual trans PCM to replace the one you have
If you have a V6 engine you will also need deal with PATS(passive anti-theft system), 4 cylinders didn't have this in 2000
As far as the swap, you will need the M5OD-R1 manual trans for your engine size, and 2WD version I assume, 2WD and 4x4 are not interchangeable
I think the manual and auto used different splines for drive line, not 100% sure, but manual trans drive line for your model(regular/super cab) should be easy to come by used
You will need the clutch brake pedal set that fits your 2000, and clutch Master cylinder
If you lift the carpet or mats there will be a metal plate you can cut out for the shifter
Steering column is up to you, but having the automatics shifter in a manual looks pretty lame, but it is just looks
If you want then you will need manual trucks steering column, dash is up to you, the PARK GEAR indicator, not sure on how that is setup on a 2000 Ranger
I assume you have a 2000 Ranger with automatic transmission now

ron d hit it right on the money did the swap in my 00 ranger 4x2 hardest part is finding all the parts I did the whole swap in about 5 hours once I got the parts in order ether need a dealership to program keys or a locksmith since we have the patts system and you don't get the module and tumbler and keys outta the donor truck if your truck doesn't have the neutral safety switch for the clutch pedal u don't need to wire one in but truck will start in gear and you won't be able to use cruise control
Well you can change the bell housing on an automatic, just requires a partial tear down/rebuild to do it
Back side of the bell housing is the front casing for the Main Pump/Front pump of an automatic, so you have to line everything back up on reassembly .
So CAN be done just not that easy to do
Sure, if you can make a bell housing that fits the 2.3l/2.5l Lima engine and a 6-speed that has a detachable bell housing
There isn't one, but 3D printing is getting better, CNC is expensive but getting cheaper
Just FYI, most 6-speeds have TWO Overdrives, so top speed is what they are after, not Quickness off the line
1 to 5 are the same as you have now, your OD(5th) is 0.79, added 6th is 0.63 or so
