98 2.5l 2x4 ranger engine swap

98 2.5l 2x4 ranger engine swap
I have a 1998 ranger xlt 2x4 2.5l regular cab what motors can I fit in it ? I was thinking about buying a crate motor but I was wondering if I could fit a v6 in it. Any info helps! Thank y'all!!

Only engine that will bolt to the transmission and motor mounts is a 2.5L Lima(1998-2000) or a 2.3l Lima(1995-1997) engine, earlier 2.3ls can't be used, crank sensor issues
If you want bigger then you do a V8 swap from a 1997-2001 Explorer/Mountaineer
Reason being is that when you swap in a different size engine the cost and work is exactly the same, so why do a V6?
You need engine and transmission, exhaust and drive lines
Computer for that engine and trans, and its full engine/trans wiring harness
