i have a 99 ford ranger XLT 3.0L with 72k i want to do new spark plugs what is the best to do for it and who makes them? money is not a factor

 

Ford's motorcraft fine wire platinums. don't do autolites.

 

They are made by the same company.They are the same plugs.
Do some research.

 

i had them and didnt like them, got better milage and performance from the motorcrafts
they werent the same plug. the autolites are double platinums where as the motorcrafts are fine wire

 

I like E3 plugs a lot. Use them in my truck and I feel like they give me better milage...

 

On mine I need to run double platinum. Does E3 make those?

i use bausch on my truck the same as yours. i dont notice and change maybe slightly quicker start

 

The only real difference is how clean of a burn you will get. Most plugs will do the same as far as igniting the fuel but some do a better job then others. The difference is only slight.

Your manual calls for Motorcraft platinum plugs.
Autolite plugs ARE the same, just cheaper most likely.

as for wires, Motorcraft wires also.

 

IIRC Takeda did a good write-up of the spark plug system on the 3.0 a while back.
The factory plugs are plats on the center electrode on one side of the engine, while the opposite side has the plat coating on the ground electrode.
One side fires the spark from the center to ground , the other side fires from ground to the center.
When replacing the factory plugs you must get double platinum plugs (preferably fine wire) for the best performance and longevity.
Many on here have found problems with plugs other than Motorcraft/Autolite , such as Bosch in less than 20K miles.

 

Think this is what i meant but i also read not to autolites because they were not finewire. I had them n didnt care for them.

 

I have motocraft but it says nothing about double platnuim. i asked the guy for these at o reillys.
