ABS Question

94 XLT,2.3l, 5 speed manual

Hello.
We had a little snow here, enough to pack the streets. When applying the brakes, it's slick enough for the front wheels to lock up. I figure the rear abs is working for the rear goes wherever the front is going. My limited experience with abs is that it pulses when active. I cannot feel any pulsating in the brake pedal or hear anything. Is that normal? The abs light only goes on at startup.

Thanks.

it's possible due to the year of the truck that it only has rear abs

I think it is rear abs only. Does that type not pulse when active?

I believe it does pulse. If you only have RABS, then your fronts would lock up. Once that happens how much would you feel on the pedal for the rear brakes on ice anyway?

They might barely be activated anyway. RABS only is not much use in icy conditions

I kept trying to get the truck to go sideways when hitting the brakes on ice. It wouldn't, so I assume the abs is working. Just don't feel any pulse.
