Newbie here...with a few questions
Hi all,
I just got a `68 F-100 Ranger from the son of the original owner. It`s got a 360 engine, 2-brl carb, 3 on the tree manual tranny, 411 rear end, dual tanks. If I wanted to restore for showroom, I would need to replace the hood and upper cab due to rust......the rest of the body is fairly straight but paint is almost gone. This truck is mechanically sound and interior is better than good. I`m not sure what I want to do right now. My first love is to get a `68 GTO and build that up.......but I do like this truck and my wife is more into this truck than a GTO. Thoughts crossing my mind are, " OK, what intake and 4-barrel carb is best for this truck?....what are the best headers?...(it is now single exhaust)......You see, if I build this truck up rather than a GTO, I want to make it a semi-high performance truck. I already have a 3/4 ton Dodge that does all my towing and truck needs.........and my heart doesnt want to spend $$$$$$$ keeping it stock. If I dive into this truck, I want it to be strong, clean, etc...
.
.
Oops, haven`t introduced myself. My nick name is JW and I`m 45. As posted above, I`m a GTO fan but came across the above recently for a low price I couldn`t say no to. Now I`m just wondering if I should build it up or sale as is.....what are all of your thoughts?

Correction, it is a `69 Ranger. Made a trip today to an auto wrecking yard nearby and was able to find a window crank and dome cab light lens for a whopping $10.00. I saw a few hoods from a couple of trucks that look identical to what I need but they are `71 and `72 F 100 Rangers. Other than the turn signal lamps being on the hood instead of the grill, are the hoods the same? The guy at the wrecking yard guarantees me the Rangers had the exact same hoods from `67 to `73. Can anyone verify this? He wants $150.00 for the hood. Thanks again.
