Airbag light blinks

Airbag light blinks

my airbag light blinks 2 times, then 5 times and then stays on. any idea what the cause is?

Light Fault Code 25......B1871......Passenger Airbag Deactivation (PAD) Switch Fault

Something is wrong wih the PAD switch under the HVAC controls. Could be connector unplugged, bad switch, etc.

Same thing happened to me, I had a flashlight rolling around underneath my seat for years and it caused something to come unplugged. Dealer fixed it for free but warned me of my dumbassedness.

i just put in new carpet so i'm sure somehow i screwed it up doing that.. i sure do appreciate the help mr. rwenzing.

yea my grandpas 98 ranger has that same problem...the switch will fail after a while especically if you cycle the switch a lot
