for some reason i cannot figure out the fuel filter tool.. i dont know.. i cant get this filter out.. can someone explain exactly how im supposed to do this

 

wrap tool around the fuel line, push tool into the connection. The spring will release and filter is free.

It took me an hour to figure it out. Are you using a metal tool? They work alot better

 

put disconect tool over line push line towards filter push disconect tool into line while still pushing the line towards filter when you cant push the disconnect tool any further pull the line off. It takes me 10 seconds to do these and i do sometimes 10 ford fuel filters a day. some of the older rusty lines are a bit of a pain. take your time and you will get it.

 

am i supposed to take the clip thing off first

 

what color is the clip? what year is your truck

yes take the clip off first it is a saftey after it is off do what i wrote before and it will be a breeze

My 03 has colored clips and I managed to get the 2 lines off of the tank end but I cant get the one off that goes to the engine. I was just going to take it to Ford and have them do it so if they break it they can fix it. HAHA

where exactly am i puttin the sleeve on the tool.. in the line fitting and then pushing the line towards the filter? mine doesnt move

 

yup put the tool over the inlet line part of the filter and push it into the line to disconnect the internal cip

 

its a pita, i remember when i did mine i couldn't get it, but luckily someone there knew how

 

I hate the "quick" disconnect tools. Well really it is the fitting I hate.


Keep working at it eventually you will get it.


Someone should take a pic of how to do this and make a sticky or how to.

 

take a pic of it, my fuel filter was a pain....you push the ends of the tool towards the fuel filter, like push it into the filter if i remember correctly and have to mess with the filter to jog it loose

 

pull the fuel pump fuse or relay and run the truck till it dies, to release the pressure. not only does this help not getting squirted in the eye, but it also helps to release the clip...take the open end over the fuel filter nipple with small end of the tool toward line. wiggle line maybe "unscrew" it alittle to help get it loose. push line toward filter to release tension push tool into the line while still pushing the line toward the filter then it should release and you should be able to push the line off with the tool at the same time your pulling the line away from the filter.

I never used any special tool, i just used a screw driver or two. I can change my filter within 5-10min.

 

ok i got it.. me and my roommates messed with and eventuall got it loose.. we came to the conclusion that the tool i got was not made well and the sleeve was a little too thick to work right.. but we played it and made it move
