My local auto parts store shows ***** joints for my 99 4WD as either the whole arm for both upper and lower, or just the ball joint....I thought numerous people told me i have to replace the whole arm, or am i able to remove just the joint itself?

 

You can replace just the lower ball joints w/o having to buy the entire lower control arm. you can only get upper ball joints with the upper control arm.

I know this is a old thread, but since I did search I didn't wanna start a new thread. My question is my upper ball joints are falling appart. I have a 2wd. Do I have to buy the whole arm with the ball joint or can I buy just the ball joint. I would rather buy upper and lower control arms for the 4/5 kit if I have to buy the whole arms. Any help is needed. Thanks.
