Brake Line

Hello, I have a 1994 ranger pouring brake fluid between the frame and gas tank. I can't see the damage to the brake line because its between the gas tank and frame. My question is, can I just leave the old line where it is and cut it, run a new line from the master cylinder back to axle and zip tie the new line to the to the frame? I mean, it main not be the professional way to go about it, but I only drive the truck around town when my main vehicle is in for service. Also, I dont have a flaring tool and wondered if I can buy a new 'flexible' line that is already flared and just bend it to make it work? I know this sounds rigged, but wouldn't it work just as well?

Making your own brake lines is pretty simple, you may be able to rent the flaring tool from an auto parts store. If you can drop the gas tank it makes for a much cleaner install where you route the line in the original location. Use copper nickel line and you wont have to worry about it rusting out again. I made my line in two pieces and split it near the fuel filter for ease of making the bends to the ABS module.

Welcome to the forum

Common issue on Rangers
I had this happen in the same place on 2 of my Rangers

I did use a long pre-made flexible brake line, put tape on one end and pushed it thru between frame and gas tank, never tried to attach it to frame
I think I connected it directly to RABS unit at front end and then used a 2nd shorter flexible line at the rear

Ford brake line fittings are a pain because they didn't always use the same size fitting at both ends of the same brake line, lol
