Brakes

Hi all! New member here. Pretty cool place. On to my question. I recently purchased a ‘20 Ranger XLT. Absolutely love it. I’ve owned many cars and one SUV over the years. This is my first pick up and actually the first vehicle I’ve owned w/four wheel disc brakes. The truck has plenty of stopping power, but I just feel like the brake pedal is “spongy”. Is it just me,or is that the way a pickup w/four wheel discs feels?

Welcome to the forum

"Spongy" is not a good as far as brakes, lol
But I would assume on a 2020 vehicle no brake work has been performed before
I never drove the new Rangers so don't have a comparison point of reference

These of course have 4WABS and also "auto-braking" and traction control(which applies the brakes)
So there could be some air in the system(causes "spongy") from factory, you could have the system bled but must have the ABS "tool" that opens and closes the ABS valves while bleeding to get the air out of that system
So probably have to take it to a Ford Dealer shop for that

And you could go and test drive a new Ranger and see if it feels the same.......................its free

its just the natural feel of the pedal, mine is the exact same

Thanks Ron. All good. My mechanic welcomed me to modern braking. Everything is as it should be,said I made a good choice in the Ranger and a lot of braking tech. has changed since my last new vehicle. 11 yrs. ago. Lol!
