Buying 11 year dormant ranger with 2500 miles- Problenms??

I may buy a stored 2007 Ranger XLT, Auto, 4x4 - 2,500 miles - Potential Problems? It was covered, outside, started every few weeks and driven short distances. It’s 11 years old so likely long dormant spells. Oil was just changed and driven around town for a few months. Original tires. Discount tire refused to service them. Will Belts and hoses be a concern, What about those not visible? What of hidden seals in tranny, brakes, electrical issues drying, etc? In Colorado so no humidity is an issue. Overpriced at 18,500. Will new tranny seals cost big $$??and other seals in areas I don’t know. Advice and warnings welcome. I own a 2002 Ranger XLT, auto 4x4 with 125K. OD lights up every few months when its been in 4 wheel drive. Has for 5 years. I read a new tranny is a few grand and u joints may be needed as it clunks from a dead start. So, buy a dormant 11 year old truck with 2500 miles or fix the old girl. I welcome the replies. Thanks.

For $18k I would just drop some $$$ into the one u have already! That’s a hell of a lot of $$$$ for a vehicle that’s been sitting not really being driven, there will be things that come up due to lack of use.... I see it like this, u know what u currently have and what it needs, no doubt 2500 miles is pretty cool and still like new, but that’s not gonna be free from issues.. Other than the OD light and u joints needing repair , hows the rest of your truck? I can see u potentially spending a couple grand on the new truck just as well as your current one. It’s a Strong pass for me!

Great advice and thanks for offering the input. I,ve replaced the AC, radiator, brakes, new tires, shocks and stuffed the drive shaft spline with grease a few times trying to reduce the clunk occurring when I start. It works for a good while. Needs it again. I have hesitated to have the front and rear tranny flushed for fear they’re holding it together. We will travel cross country in it, which got me looking for a more current ride. Love the Ranger, would love to keep it, just need electric locks installed, not opting for electric windows, and whatever OD fixes remain. Now to budget for tranny, or torque converter or whatever is causing the OD light. I have to turn the truck off to reset it and recently it would not go into 5th on the highway rapping up rpms. I pulled off, turned the truck off, then on and were good for a few 5 or 6 months. Any tips are appreciated before I step into the mechanics office.. Ill keep the old girl. :)
