c6 tranny
I am rebuilding a older c6 and am putting it back together. THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS WHERE THE REVERSE DRUM AND PLANETARY GEAR ARE GO TOGETHER. I DID MY OTHER ONE BUT DON'T REMEMBER A THRUST WASHER TOP AND BOTTOM OF PLANETARY GEAR , IF I PUT ONE ON BOTTOM MY LOCK RING WONT FIT BUT IF I LEAVE THE BOTTOM OUT IT FITS FINE. I'VE CHECKED MY BOOK AND IT SAYS TOP AND BOTTOM ANY IDEAS? THANKS

The thing being IS... it is not a stock or a replacement transmission for an OEM Ranger and usually you don't find them behind a 5.0L swap... so as Ron D has stated,
"You would be better off asking over at a F-150 forum, the C6 was used mostly behind V8s so Rangers or BII never had them" !
Good Luck on your quest for information !

The 351C,
If you can keep it cool it is a great engine.
It put one in a '68 Stang, pulled pretty good.
So what is in the Ranger, the 351C or the 460 ?
If you have the 351C and a good radiator, that engine would be nice in a Ranger, a big engine, with the heads, but considered a small block engine by Ford.
You might even get away with minor suspension work.
The 460... well that is another story, that is just a BIG, BIG TRUCK ENGINE, and this will take a lot of rework to the chassis, suspension, parts !
Probably more work than putting in a 4.6L or a 5.4L.
What are you going to do with it once completed ?

Funny it probably isn't a 351 C, Ford in it infinite wisdom, make some 351 M's, they were more truck motors than performance Motors, and YES there is always the 351W... that was in everything... !
The "M" version used the BB Bell housing and the "C / W" used the small block bell housing; actually the "W" isn't the same motor series.
As you said the 351M/360/400 all took the BB Bell Housing, the 351C/351W/302W/5.0L//// took the small block Bell Housing, I think the Heads on a 351M were the Cleveland Style but the 2V heads.
Check your serial numbers... just to be sure; I would like to know for sure myself.
If you get the serial number, post it or PM me, I would like to look it up, it would be interesting to see if Ford made a 351C with a BB Bell Housing.
I am not trying to put a damper on your project, please don't think that, just interested in what the "F" Ford did !
