Cant get oil filter off need ideas
I wouldnt risk it. Jam a screwdriver clean thru both sides and turn it like an 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch, as much as you can, and hopefully that will break the seal.
For your next filter, if you really wanna avoid this problem, use a K&N oil filter...It's got a 1'' nut welded to it!

thats the thing i've checked local stores like Farm and fleet and wal-mart and kmart doesn't even have this stuff. Those are the only stores that are around here and all they have are those FRAM filters where would i get a k&N one?
Thats exactly what happened to me when I tried changing my oil for the first time right after I bought my truck..
I tried everything, finally had to resort to grabbing a long breaker bar to use as a hammer, and a screwdriver.. pounded it through both sides, and used that as a hand hold to crank it until it popped loose.. Then I put on a proper filter, and made sure to put some clean new oil on the top seal.. when i changed it about a thousand miles ago it slid off nice and neat with two hands twisting it off with a bit of effort.. just how it shoudl be =)

3 pages and it's not solved yet............someone drive over there and give the poor SOB a helping hand. It's like watching a bird twitching after it got hit by a car.
List in which to remove an oil filter.
1 - Hand (for the young guy)
2 - Oil filter removal tool (most of us DIY'ers use this)
3 - Channel locks (if you can get them in there)
4 - Screwdriver through the bloody thing!!!!
......and if it still isn't coming off......well that will teach you for either a) putting it on WAAAY too tight, or b) buying a cheap @ss filter where the seal *REALLY* sealed on there.

Channel locks and i tried to use those but didn't have enough clearance to use it properly.
You beat the hell out of that filter!
K&N Filters were shown to be good filters in a few 4x4 magazines I read (yeah yeah I know, doesnt say anything)
Cut apart a Fram and cut apart a K&N and compare the amount of filter media

I had this happen on the atv. I ended up getting a filter wrench (like an adjustable spanner wrench) and EVENTUALLY got it off. It took a lot.
also strap wrench will work.
I had this happen to me even after I oiled the seal...I dunno what the problem is.

Well I pay about 9 for the Mobile One that I use now so whats a few more bucks. Also I can get them for $8. Another thing is I'm going to start changing my oil every 5K instead of every 3K.
LOL. I have to remind myself that sometimes.
