cb update

ok i was sitting in my gf's driveway and the cb was working halfway decent, still some static but deff better. then i start the truck and the static starts up again and drowns out the voices. so that tells me its something on the truck and the antenna is fine (could be better, but is at least picking stuff up) also im getting that high pitched wine through the cb. i ran a new power wire to the batt and it did nothing-still whine from alternator. any ideas how to fix this?

bottom line- cb's getting interferance from the truck when running and need to take care of alternator noise.

do you have the ground bolted to metal and not plastic?

Have you gotten the SWR set and the radio tuned. if not id start there. but if you got it tuned then moved the CB to a diff. spot then you should get it checked again.

try and ground it in diff. spots. and run the wires as far away from other wires as possible. could be getting interferance from other stuff like that AC.

Move the CB power wire away from the amp power wire, that should cut down on a lot of noise. Make sure the ground is to direct metal, not to painted metal. Get it tuned too!

I'm not sure if Ford ever fixed this, both my '93 and '96 picked up alot of noise from the fuel pumps. Ford put a filter of some sort on my '96 (they had to pull the tank and put it on the pump) because I was a 911 dispatcher and it interfered with my radios. So far I haven't had any probs with my '99 but I don't run any hf band radios in my vehicles anymore, only vhf and up.
