2005 Ranger linkage adjustment?

My 2005 Ranger STX 3.0 with automatic transmission, the shifter is a notch off on the shifting, it shows to be in reverse when it is in park, neutral when it is in reverse and it shows to be in second when it is in drive. Is there an adjustment or is it something more serious?
Thanks in advance for your help.

yes there is an adjuster. follow the shift cable coming through the firewall and you'll find the little dial for adjusting the needle. you may need to pull the small plastic lower part of the dash (remove the hood release handle and a few other bolts) and then maybe the metal piece behind it to see the adjuster. its easy to remove those though.

side note, can i have your grille? LOL
